Stand Downs continue as principal means of distributing tools to Veterans of the (5) US Armed Forces branches, which are subsequently utilized for therapeutic, home and workplace needs. Planning attendance at these events, combined with multiple donor tool collections consumes considerable time and effort but, for all involved it’s a labor of love and, we are pleased to report record over 1,000 Veterans as having received tool donations from 1/1/2018 to 12/31/18. Significantly, Pearl Harbor Day December 7 completed Tools4Troops 2018 Stand Down attendances as we joined forces with North Coastal Veterans NPO @ their annual Shiloh Inn, Newport event.
Following the successful Newport trip and, after returning to Portland we stumbled upon the reality that another hurdle was within reach i.e., providing tools to the 3,000th Veteran. Up to this point we’d been preoccupied with the 2018 goal of distributing tools at (20) Stand Downs and pleasingly beat that number by making it to (23). Tallying up the numbers after Newport’s event, realization hit home that we were close to achieving another significant marker and, finding West Linn’s Robinwood Station Community Center was open for booking Saturday December 15 we moved straight ahead and successfully distributed tools to (47) Veterans and on cue just 20 minutes before the end in walked Veteran No. 3,000
Note: The time gap between Newport’s 12/7 venue and Robinwood’s 12/15 was slender and nagging concern was that at such short notice we might not attract enough Veterans to make the day a success, however our email blast carried the day and fittingly, the venue was same building as T4T’s first tools distribution event held on June 10 2014.

Tool Donations / Corporate Support (Alphabetical Order):
Many thanks to the public in general and corporations who have steadfastly provided Veterans support, including:
Home Depot, Lowes, Move Makers, Portland Fasteners, Rubbish Works, SEARS Corporation, Spears Construction Supply and, last but not least Stanley Hydraulics.
Partnerships: Community Warehouse, Easter Seals, OMSN (Oregon Military Support Network), North Coast Veterans, Salvation Army, Voices for Veterans, WSO (Work Source Oregon), WSW (Work Source Washington) and etc.,
How it works: In some instances, the MO is for the partner to find Veterans gainful employment and then turn to T4T for the work specific tools, others turn over non-focused goods (read tools) with T4T returning the favor where applicable.
Requested for assistance by US Military on assignment in both Poland and Afghanistan we responded by supplying tools that were otherwise unavailable from Uncle Sam. To those unaware USPS charges for such consignments are same level as domestic USA, so it is that over the past few years, we’ve been able to support our Troops with items that at the end of a long day provide a modicum of assistance when back in camp
Tool Donations: Donations moved from strength to strength and by 12 31 2018 T4T’s tool inventory remained in good shape for future distribution events and it’s all thanks to the public and our Corporate sponsors for rock solid support.
Financials: Securing cash donations for most all NPO’s is a capital letter C constant struggle,in this respect, TTroops PBC is no different to any other, thanks however to your most generous support, the year ended on a positive note and, we’re most thankful to be able to continue T4T’s charitable outreach to Veterans of the (5) US Armed Forces branches.
Happy New Year
